“Chipping Away at Our
Freedoms!”

Ken Neal, editorial page editor of the Tulsa World, wrote some interesting things concerning our freedoms in the October 15, 2006 editorial section. He said: “That soft, steady chipping noise you might or might not hear is the sound of freedom being whittled down and carved away.”
He immediately revealed the source of the statement - a senior federal judge speaking to a group at the annual Constitution Day Observance at Rogers State University at Claremore, Oklahoma recently.
He sounded an inspiring alarm bell that the judge has been hearing even if his fellow citizens have not heard it. He gave his audience a hearing test. “Quiet now. Can you hear it? Listen close. It’s very subtle: No sirens, no wail from the emergency broadcast system, just a soft, steady chipping noise.
“I hear the chipping getting just a little bit louder every day. Maybe it helps if you’ve heard it before - that sound of freedom being whittled down and carved away. If you can’t hear it, you’re not alone. I’m afraid a lot of Americans don’t hear what’s happening, or if they do, they either don’t care or don’t know what to do to stop it.”
As columnist Richard Reeves put it: “Subpoena power!” He said the only way to restore constitutional checks and balances in Washington before the 2008 election is for the opposition to win one house of Congress and have the power to call witnesses at hearings and ask, under oath: “what the ___ is going on here?” The Democrats won both Houses.
Richard Reeves said we should ask: “What is going on in the White House? The Defense Department? The CIA and the National Security Agency? With gasoline prices? Along the border with Mexico? In Baghdad? In New Orleans? With Jack Abramoff? In Congress itself?
“Or who is listening to your phone calls? Are your taxes being used to teach torture techniques? Are the glaciers melting? We’ll be the last to know.
“The nation flies blind when we have [a] determined one-party government. That can and has happened in both parties over the centuries, but this White House is a particularly tough bunch, taking freedom around the world and taking IT AWAY AT HOME.
“There is a nasty whiff of totalitarianism in Washington today, with a closed administration that seems to spend most of its time and effort trying to prevent the Congress, press, and people from getting information about decision-making. ...”
The American Free Press has revealed: “In the old Soviet Union, the government controlled the media. Not a word of substance could be published without prior approval from the Bolshevik commissars. Today, in the United States, the situation is starkly similar. But most Americans don’t even know it.
“In America today, it is a select handful of super-rich families and tightly-knit financial interests who own the Big Media and who control the government through their ownership of that media. ... Every single one of the major outlets is controlled by this powerful interlocking combine.”

To consolidate their influence, the Masters of the Media and their international corporate allies REWARD obedient journalists with membership in the Marxist Council on Foreign Relations or the Trilateral Commission where they rub shoulders with others in the international policy-making networks. A handful get promoted to the higher ranks of the secret Bilderberger Group.
Behind the scenes are the shadowy owners and corporate power brokers who dictate what you will or will not see in your daily newspaper or in the evening news.
* These shadowy media controllers decide which politicians are “in” and which politicians are “out.” They made Bill Clinton overnight. They also broke Richard Nixon overnight.
* The Masters of the Media decide which issues can or can not be debated. Imagine a public debate over the Federal Reserve System on Ted Koppel’s Nightline. It will never happen!
* The Masters of the Media decide which are the “good wars” and which are the “bad wars.”
* If the Big Media decides you will be the patsy, then the patsy you will be. Ask Lee Harvey Oswald or James Earl Ray or Gordon Kahl or Randy Weaver or the victims of Waco.

Speaking of the “Good Wars” or the “Bad Wars”

According to Phyllis Schlafly: “If you don’t have access to Texas newspapers or the internet, you may not have heard the sensational news about the enormous cache of weapons seized in Laredo, Texas. United States authorities grabbed two completed Improvised Explosive Devices, materials for making 33 more, military-style grenades, 26 grenade triggers, large quantities of AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles, 1280 rounds of ammunition, silencers, machine gun assembly kits, 300 primers, bullet-proof vests, police scanners, sniper scopes, narcotics, and cash.
“That sounds like a WAR is going on in Texas! (Why haven’t we heard of this on the mainline national media?). If bomb-making factories and firearms assembly plants are ordinary day-to-day business in the drug WAR along our southern border, the American people need to know more about it.
“The Val Verde County chief deputy warned that drug traffickers are helping terrorists with possible al-Qaeda ties to cross the Texas-Mexico border into the United States. A government spokeswoman in Houston said ‘at this point there is no connection with anything in Iraq.’
“We are not so easily reassured. We wonder what our government is doing to fulfill its duty to ‘protect each of them [the states] against invasion,’ as called for in the U.S. Constitution, Article IV.
“The Department of Homeland Security now admits that there have been 231 documented incursions by Mexican military or police, or drug or people smugglers dressed in military uniforms, during the last ten years, including 63 in Arizona, and several Border Patrol agents have been wounded in these encounters. This admission comes after years of pretending that such incursions were just ‘accidents.’
“Homeland Security sent a confidential memo in January 2006 to our Border Patrol agents warning that they could be the targets of assassins hired by alien smugglers. The alert states that the contract killers will probably be members of the vicious MS-13 Mara Salvatrucha street gang (whose 17-year old killers will be protected from capital punishment by a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision).
“There is, indeed, a drug war going on between rival drug gangs, but the U.S. government seems to be just a bystander without manpower or weapons to take action. Are we going to continue to leave our Border agents sitting ducks for Mexican snipers?
“Rep. Tom Tancredo reported that sheriff deputies spotted a military-style Humvee near El Paso, Texas, with a mounted .50-caliber machine gun escorting a caravan of SUVs bringing illegal drugs into our country. Our outgunned and outmanned sheriff deputies and state highway patrol could not do anything except take pictures.
“The Mexican government is unwilling or incapable of doing anything to stop the wide-open lawlessness on the Mexican side of the border. Our Border Patrol agents say they are often confronted by corrupt Mexican military units employed to protect violent drug smugglers.
“Meanwhile, the news media have shown us pictures of the just-discovered sophisticated 2,400-foot tunnel running under our border to a warehouse in San Diego. U.S. authorities recovered more than two tons of marijuana, and it is unclear how long the tunnel has been in operation or how many tons of drugs have already passed through. “The Bush Administration whines that it can’t (i.e., won’t) do anything to implement border security unless its guest-worker/amnesty proposal is part of the legislative package, and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff looked pathetically weak when interviewed on television by Bill O’Reilly. When is our government going to protect us from the crime, the drugs, the smuggling racket, destruction of property, the endangerment to U.S. residents along our border and undermanned Border Patrol?
“In charge of protecting Americans against this war is 36-year-old Julie Myers, to whom President Bush gave a recess appointment after her Senate confirmation bogged down because of her total lack of law-enforcement experience. Her qualifications are her connections: she is the niece of former Joint Chiefs Chairman Richard Myers and the wife of Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff’s chief of staff.
“Representative J. D. Hayworth (R-AZ) says that if you visit the border, you will find that almost everyone who lives there is armed for protection from illegals. Just imagine if you had to carry a gun to go to the grocery store or take your kids to school!”
